My style is open, direct, and relaxed. Yes, I will talk. No, I won't only ask you how you're feeling. I often ask for feedback on how the process is going for you. I have a uniquely grounding presence and provide insights that lead to change in your life. My therapeutic orientation is relational, strength-based, and solution-focused. I also utilize strategic therapy and narrative therapy. My previous clients have described me as thoughtful, present, compassionate, and curious.
Prior to starting my practice at Bay Area Psychotherapy Institute, I worked at Crisis Support Services of Alameda County for three years. There I counseled clients managing traumatic grief and loss, suicidal ideation, depression, and intrusive thoughts. I also helped clients develop boundaries, healthy social connections, and spirituality. I have worked with children and adolescents from elementary school to high school as well as adults in all stages of life. I also provided crisis counseling for the Alameda county Crisis Hotline and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
I specialize in grief and loss, men's issues, teens, and anxiety. If you would like to work on a goal outside of these areas and you think we might be a good fit, please reach out and we can discuss what you are looking for. Working from a relational perspective means that our connection is integral to the progress made in therapy. If you think that we might work well together, I encourage you to reach out. Contact me by phone or email to schedule a 15-minute phone consultation. I look forward to getting to know you!
