How to get started
The first step to finding the care you need and deserve is to talk with our Intake Coordinator. Book your free 20-minute phone consultation by clicking the red button below.
The purpose of this call is to help match you with an Associate Therapist at BAPTI, or provide you with outside referrals if needed.
If there is a particular therapist you would like to work with, please let us know. Feel free to read our therapist profiles if you would like a better understanding of the different areas of expertise and focus our therapists offer.
Alternatively, you can also call BAPTI’s Intake Line at (925) 284-2298, or email the Intake Coordinator at therapy@bapti.org.
Our general response time is one to two business days.
Fees
BAPTI offers affordable sliding scale therapy and counseling. We discuss fees upfront so that you are clear on what your rate is before your first session. Our standard fee is $170 for individuals, and $180 for couples and families. We offer a sliding scale of lower fees for those with less financial resources (depending on your financial need and therapist availability).
BAPTI also has a Mental Health Equity Fund, which allows us to provide some very low-fee subsidized spots for low-income clients who would otherwise not be able to afford high-quality psychotherapy services.
If you need sliding scale or very low-fee therapy, please ask the Intake Coordinator or the therapist of your choice for more information during your free consultation.
Insurance
We do not bill insurance directly, however your therapist can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
To find out if your insurance offers reimbursements for therapy or teletherapy services, please contact them directly.
Be sure to ask if your plan covers mental health services provided out-of-network, and by an associate therapist.
Kindly note that whenever insurance is used for psychotherapy, the treatment is viewed as “medically necessary.” This means that it will require the documentation of a diagnosis. Other personal information may also be required for reimbursement by your insurance provider.
Cancelations
Your therapist will discuss their cancellation policy with you during your first appointment.
COVID precautions
Therapy sessions are available in person and online. For in person sessions, our office is taking the following precautions to minimize the risk for our clients and therapists, and to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Office and building air purifiers are maintained regularly.
Our therapists can wear masks if requested.
Restroom soap dispensers are maintained and everyone is encouraged to wash their hands.
Hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol is available in the therapy rooms and the waiting room.
Physical contact is not permitted.
Tissues and trash bins are easily accessible. Trash is disposed of on a daily basis.
We do our best to stagger appointment times so all clients don’t arrive at the same time
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
